Achieve Your Goals Live Your Dreams
GOALS HAVE BEEN SET - NOW WHAT?
"What you can conceive and believe, you can achieve."
Napoleon Hill
The process of setting goals, long term and short term, has been completed. Now you're wondering what to do with these carefully crafted lists. How do you achieve your goals and live your dreams? Don't put them aside - you must take the next critical step. You need to create a vision and see your goals achieved.
Think of your goals as destinations on the road map for your life's journey. The ultimate final destination is the achievement of happiness, success and peace, for example. Some of the destinations on your road map are nearby - short term goals; other destinations farther down the road - long term goals. Be sure you do a final review of your two lists and confirm that the nearby destinations are on the road that leads to those far away destinations. Don't take unnecessary detours!
Now you are ready to create your vision - believe that you will achieve each goal and picture that achievement in your mind. Use your imagination to create pictures of those achievements actually happening now.
CREATE YOUR VISION AND LIVE YOUR DREAMS
Before you actually set goals, you most likely had dreams. Your dreams were probably a mix of things like a certain car, a trip you wanted to take, the perfect spouse you wanted to meet, a college degree, a book you wanted to write, a business you wanted to start, or a long list of other accomplishments you wanted in your life. You have now set specific goals and outlined a plan of action to achieve your goals and live your dreams. Without the goals and the plan, those dreams are nothing more than wishes.
Creating the vision for these goals and dreams is actually simple but not always easy. There are specific actions that will help in your vision creation. Involving your subconscious mind and visualizing your goals as completed is a key to the process. Simply close your eyes and see yourself as you achieve a specific goal. Get your feelings involved. Let's use a trip to Europe as the specific goal. See yourself getting a Passport, looking at the travel brochures, buying the airline ticket, making hotel reservations, boarding the plane and arriving at your destination - goal accomplished! Capture these pictures and feelings and replay them in your mind frequently. It is also helpful to find pictures that represent the goal - maybe some travel brochures for France and a picture of the hotel in France. Put your pictures where you will see them every day. The process is simple but you must be consistent and you must believe in the reality of your vision.
Written and verbal affirmations will help with achievement of your goals. For example, using the trip to Europe, one of the affirmations might be "I now have the money needed for my trip to Europe". Use affirmations that are specific and, at the same time, feel right for you. As Napoleon Hill said, "you must conceive and believe, and then you will achieve it". By the way, don't share your plans with just anyone - too many people will jump right in to tear down your goals and your plans. If you do share them, be sure it is someone that can really be trusted and someone that can support and reinforce your goals; someone that wants to see you achieve your goals and live your dreams.
DON'T WAIT FOR NEW YEARS DAY TO SET YOUR GOALS - DO IT NOW
The longer you delay the goal setting process, the longer you delay the success and abundance that can be yours. Yes, it takes effort and time but the payoff is well worth any time, energy or money you may invest in the process.
REACH YOUR GOALS
HOW TO STAY MOTIVATED AND FOCUSED ON YOUR GOALS
Motivation and sustained focus must be a priority as you work toward your goals. Be sure the goals you have set reflect your dreams and not those of someone else. Without total commitment to the achievement of your goals and living your dreams, motivation and focus will quickly vanish. Surround yourself with positive upbeat people - people that are goal oriented. There are tons of books and tapes on motivation and success - buy some and then read them and apply the ideas to your plan. Many successful people have already been down this road and reached their ultimate goal. Why not benefit from the experiences and tips they are willing to share? You don't need to rebuild the road; you just need to stay on it!
Review your goals frequently and, if necessary, make adjustments. Also, take time to celebrate any small successes, or mini-goals, that are on the road to the bigger goal. Use positive affirmations that are meaningful to you and stir up your passion for the dream. Don't give up!
"Cherish your visions. Cherish your ideals. Cherish the music that stirs in your
heart, the beauty that forms in your mind, the loveliness that drapes your purest
thoughts, for out of them will grow all delightful conditions, all heavenly
environment; of these, if you but remain true to them, your world will at last be
built."
